The memorandum of understanding signed between GPS Health and Co-operative Insurance.
GPS Health has entered a strategic partnership with Co-operative Insurance and launched its medical claims platform, described at the launch as the first Sri Lankan software written specifically for handling medical insurance claims.
The platform and the memorandum of understanding behind it were announced together. GPS Group Chairman Paranitharan Nadarajah attended alongside Chief Executive Officer Evangeline Paranitharan, Chief Operating Officer Lakshika Sampathawaduge and Co-operative Insurance Chief Executive Officer Priyankara Rajapaksha.
It is a move into health services for a group whose work has been in business process outsourcing and education. The claims system is aimed at the three parties who each hold a different part of a medical claim and rarely see the whole of it at once: the patient, the hospital and the insurer.
What it does
Patients submit claims through the platform. Insurers can watch hospitalisations as they happen rather than learning of them afterwards. And a hospital discharge can be settled without the wait that normally sits between treatment and payment, which is the part that costs a patient time and a hospital money.
The stated aim is speed, trust and transparency across the three sides at once, rather than an improvement to any one of them on its own.
“We have entered the health services industry to provide BPO services to the insurance industry with a state-of-the-art digital platform designed to simplify healthcare claim management from start to end. We present ourselves as the overall solution provider for the insurance industry in Sri Lanka.”
